TALK: HISTORIC PIPE ORGANS OF OAXACA

This presentation will focus on a little-known aspect of Oaxaca’s rich cultural heritage, the fascinating and idiosyncratic group of 72 historic pipe organs built according to Spanish models from the late 17th to late 19th centuries. It will also describe the work of the Instituto de Organos Históricos de Oaxaca (IOHIO) to protect, conserve, and promote the organs at the local, national, and international level.

Cicely Winter, one of IOHIO's co-founders will take you on her journey from IOHIO's inception in 2000 to the present. The IOHIO's Twelfth International Organ And Early Music Festival will take place February 14 - 21, 2018.
