Synopsis: The writer Jack Kerouac became the highest representative of the "Beat Generation" after writing at the end of the forties his legendary novel "On the road" (published on 1957-). The legacy of Kerouac and his subsequent influence is shown in this documentary through interviews with friends and contemporaries such as William S. Burroughs, Allen Ginsberg, Huncke Herbert, and Edie Parker. The narrator, Peter Coyote, reads sections (mostly autobiographical) of books by Kerouac.
