US American Literature of the 20th Century/LA LITERATURA AFROAMERICANA Description:
AFRICAN AMERICAN LITERATURE IN THE UNITED STATES OF THE 20TH CENTURY

Objective: To approach the literature of several African-American authors and authors from the USA between 1920 and now, from the Renaissance of Harlem, through the Civil Rights Movement, to the present. We will explore texts that confront the constant realities of race and racism, painting a portrait of the country different from the idealistic and patriotic discourse, and dealing with difficult issues of identity, difference and inequality, oppression and violence, justice and the revolution, and the contradictions in the mythologized idea of "America." We will approach a variety of texts, from political essay to novel, from science fiction to feminism and intersectionality.
He gives: Matthew Gleeson
