TALK: LIFE and TIMES of PETE SEEGER and POWER of PROTEST SONGS
Presented by Stephen Richer

FRIDAY, JANUARY 11, 5 PM

MX$90 (M) MX$130 (NM)

Come to a talk on the social history of protest music. A banjo will be played and we encourage singing to illustrate the power of the collective voice in social change. The year 2019 is the 100th anniversary of the birth of one of the most important and influential troubadours of protest songs — Pete Seeger. So we shall celebrate this with a retrospective lecture on the life and times of this extraordinary man.

Stephen is a banjo-playing Professor Emeritus of Sociology at Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada. He's been giving a similar lecture on the social history of protest music at Carleton's Institute for Learning in Retirement.
