Bird sounds includes calls (simple, short sounds), songs (complex, melodious sounds) and sounds produced with other parts of the body such as beak or wings. In non-technical use, bird songs are the bird sounds that are melodious to the human ear. In ornithology and birding, sounds produced by birds are used to distinguish species. However, vocal behavior in birds is not only about the type of sounds they produce; this interesting behavior encompasses many more topics such as how birds produce sounds, how birds use the songs for surviving and reproducing and why different species sing so differently?

Roberto will help us understand the broader picture of this wonderful phenomena. Hopefully the way you see, hear and appreciate birds producing their sounds will be enhanced by this talk.
