Pottery of Red Pottery of San Marco Tlapazola, Thursday, 20 Feb 2020, 9 am to 4 pm
The inhabitants of San Marco almost all busy themselves with the making of the red clay
pottery the village is famous for. Perhaps the most illustrious of these is Macrina Mateo
Martinez, whose work has been featured in exhibits on all five continents. She will welcome
us to her home and workshop to explain the art which has kept her village alive for centuries.
We will enjoy lunch at the central market in Tlacolula on the way back to Oaxaca.(Note: tour
price does not include lunch.)

Los habitantes de San Marco casi todos se ocuparon de la fabricacion de la arcilla roja
ceramica por la que el pueblo es famoso. Quizas la mas ilustre de estas es Macrina Mateo
Martinez, cuyo trabajo ha sido presentado en exhibiciones en los cinco continentes. Ella dara la bienvenida
nosotros a su casa y taller para explicar el arte que ha mantenido viva su aldea durante siglos.
Disfrutaremos de un almuerzo en el mercado central de Tlacolula en el camino de regreso a Oaxaca. (Nota: tour el precio no incluye almuerzo)
