Aj Ral Ch’och’: “Hijos e hijas de la tierra”. Así se autodenomina el pueblo Q’eqchi’. Para este pueblo Maya, la tierra, el agua y el bosque, representan mucho más que medios de producción y reproducción material. Sin embargo las plantaciones agroindustriales de caña de azúcar y palma africana han invadido su territorio, debido principalmente a la creciente demanda mundial de agrocombustibles.
