Both Mazaltepec and Tejalapam are small farming communities which lie in the northwest quadrant of the Etla Valley and neither see many foreign visitors, though they are not far from the capital city. Our hike today is a 5.7 mile trek through the rolling countryside between the two villages. Our route will follow an unpaved country road up and over a ridge of hills separating two parts of the Etla Valley.
The road is rather steep in places, so your legs and lungs will get a good workout. A sack lunch is required, which will be enjoyed at the high point of the trail where hikers can admire the scenery.

PANDEMIC PROTOCOL: For everyone's safety, hike participants must show proof of vaccination when boarding the van the morning of the hike, and must wear face masks when traveling in the van. Masks may be removed when out on the trail. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation!
