Description:
EXPLORING THE MINERAL HERITAGE OF OAXACA STATE

THURSDAY, DECEMBER 27, 9 AM - 6 PM

The Spanish conquistadores came to the New World seeking fame and fortune. The Aztec Great Speaker, Monctezuma II, told Cortés that most of his gold came from Oaxaca, which is why Cortés claimed this region of Mexico as his personal fiefdom. This tour will take us through the ruins of the 18th century Cinco Señores Hacienda near Lachatao and then to the pueblo of Natividad where we will visit the mining museum and tour the gold mine there. Lunch at Linda Vista trout restaurant overlooking the Oaxaca Valley. (Note: tour price does not include lunch, estimate between $100 and $200 pesos.

Payment either at the OLL front desk or on the OLL Event page https://www.oaxlibrary.org/online-store. Early registration advised. Members: 350 pesos Non-members: 400 pesos
