Celebrating Women and Cultivating Mindfulness Description:
In honor of March being Women´s History Month, Tlayudona and Women´s Radical Pursuits are joining forces to offer an exploratory event for women on March 24th. This experience features a blend of reflection, self-care, and mindfulness on both a personal level and in a small community of women. A combination of gentle yoga, communal reflection over a delicious cup of Oaxacan specialty coffee, and the personal creation of your own vision board within a group of similarly-motivated women will propel us toward embracing mindfulness and celebrating our own empowerment. The experience will culminate in a delicious locally-prepared lunch of assorted tamales, which we´ll devour in great company.
Why mindfulness?
We believe that in order to manifest change and cultivate mindfulness in our surrounding communities, that we need to begin with self-reflection and personal processes that enable us to identify our intentions and help us manifest them. This experience is designed to do just that. Amy, a life-coach, yoga teacher, and pioneer of women´s adventure travel; and Jennifer, a sociologist with a trajectory in women´s studies, have teamed up to offer this experience to reflect upon our lives, dreams, aspirations, relationships and communities.
The experience will begin with a group introduction and a gentle and grounding yoga practice in Convivio´s relaxing patio space so that we can strengthen the connection between our minds, bodies, and spirits.
We´ll take a picturesque stroll from Convivio´s Llano Park location past Santo Domingo and Oaxaca´s famous “touristic walking street” to Cafébre, where we´ll get to caffeine-up for the remainder of the experience with some of the best locally-grown coffee available, which is roasted on-site. We´ll take advantage of their quaint and inviting workshop space to talk about the rich purpose of creating a vision board to help you manifest your intentions and dreams, and then we´ll get to work.

Each one of us will use the supplies on hand and the pictures/images/elements that we´ve previously printed and/or collected for this project to create our own unique vision board pertinent to our personal lives, dreams, and aspirations. (More details below.)

Why a vision board?
“Creating a sacred space that displays what you want actually does bring it to life. What we focus on expands. When you create a vision board and place it in a space where you see it often, you essentially end up doing short visualization exercises throughout the day.” (Rider, E. 2017) Visualization is one of the most powerful tools that you can implement to train your brain and harness the powers of the universe to bring your goals to life.
How we will fuel this physical and mental exercise?
Doña Juana has prepared us several varieties of mouth-watering tamales to munch on while we work, as we´ll need fuel for all of the reflecting and connecting we´ll be doing. There will be vegetarian options, and other health needs can most likely be met if you contact us with anticipation.
Cost: 690 pesos (via paypal), or stop by our Tlayudona space to reserve your spot and receive a 15% discount. Reserve your spot with anticipation.

We will meet at 8:30 a.m. at Convivio. This experience takes place in Convivio and at Cafébre.

Course includes:
-1 hour gentle yoga practice for all abilities/bodies. No previous experience required.
-Walk from Convivio to Cafébre
-A heaping cup of specialty-grade Oaxacan coffee with an optional refill
-Fresh tamales (We´ll have several varieties on hand, and you´re welcome to any/all of them)
-Agua de sabor (A refreshing water-based drink made with local fruit.)
-Poster board, scissors, markers, stickers, magazines, and various other supplies necessary to create and decorate your own vision board.*

*We recommend that you collect/print out several pictures that pertain to the aspects of your life that you most value so that you can include them on your vision board. (We suggest that you can include images from the following categories, although you’re in no way limited to these suggestions: Health, Spirituality, Fitness, Finances & Professional, Family &/or Friends, Relationships, Intellectual, Emotional, Character, Quality of Life, Life Visions.) We will have additional materials on hand from which to gather images, but your board will best-reflect your personal vision if some of the images come directly from you.

This experience is offered bilingually in English and Spanish depending on the needs of our group.
