DRESS CHILDREN WITH LOVE: CHILDREN'S CLOTHES FROM MEXICO AND GUATEMALA
Instead of silk threads, they consist of cotton and wool; instead of gold twists, they look like brocades made on the loom and embroidered with a needle. Not for that they are worth less. Children's clothes, like those of their parents, reflect the history of each community and project an ideal of beauty to the world. There is nothing more beautiful than a human offspring, they seem to tell us the multicolored huipilitos and hats lined with hello.

En vez de hilos de seda, constan de algodón y lana; en lugar de entorchados de oro, lucen brocados hechos en el telar y bordados plasmados con una aguja. No por ello valen menos. Las prendas de los niños, como las de sus padres, reflejan la historia de cada comunidad y proyectan ante el mundo un ideal de belleza. No hay nada más hermoso que un retoño humano, parecen decirnos los huipilitos multicolores y los gorros forrados de holanes.
