The group Tierra Lumbre of San Bartolo Coyotepec will trace the long term tradition that began with utilitarian pieces for its citizens. With the development of tourism and the market the San Bartolo potters have innovated and also work to keep the tradition alive with younger members of the community.

Please join us at the Library to meet the potters, hear the story of their tradition and see the innovative pieces they are making today. There will be an exposition of their production for sale.

San Bartolo Coyotepec se caracteriza por su barro negro, nuestras generaciones pasadas trabajaron la elaboración de objetos utilitarios para el uso diario, nuestras familias preservaron la historia de las técnicas tradicionales a través de piezas únicas, lo que nos llevo a valorarlas y seguir trabajándolas, además de que tuvimos que adecuarnos a las nuevas tendencias del mercado. Hoy en día somos una familia que busca mantener viva la enseñanza de nuestros padres y abuelos, sabemos que para ellos fue de vital importancia y es nuestro deber darlo a conocer y seguir enseñando a nuestras generaciones futuras.
