TALK: MODERN MEXICAN ART: RUPTURE REVOLUTION 1920-1970

This presentation will cover the first modernists such as Carlos Orozco Romero and Rufino Tamayo, followed by the RUPTURA movement after World War II. Many know that Oaxacans were very important in this movement, such as Rodolfo Nieto and Francisco Toledo.

John Harvey Williams holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Texas in Art History, where he was a student of Linda Schiele, Richard Townsend and Terrance Grieder, among other internationally recognized experts in the field of Mesoamerican Art History and was a ward of the late Dr Thomas Mabry Cranfill, author of IMAGES OF MEXICO, University of Texas Press 1968. John has continued studying and exploring since his graduation from UT in 1978. He is a naturalized and completely bilingual and bicultural Mexican citizen./

John Harvey Williams tiene una licenciatura de la Universidad de Texas en Historia del Arte, donde fue alumno de Linda Schiele, Richard Townsend y Terrance Grieder, entre otros expertos reconocidos internacionalmente en el campo de la Historia del Arte Mesoamericano y fue un protegido del difunto Dr. Thomas Mabry Cranfill, autor de IMÁGENES DE MÉXICO, University of Texas Press 1968. John ha seguido estudiando y explorando desde su graduación de UT en 1978. Es un ciudadano mexicano naturalizado y completamente bilingüe y bicultural.
